A thought about Hillary Clinton’s likely appointment as Secretary of State: what does it say to the theocratic patriarchs of the Middle East and beyond that a black American president has dispatched a woman to sit at their table and stare them down? A woman with power, self-assurance and total individual freedom? And, more importantly, what does it say to the silent women of those cultures that a powerful woman is representing America? Condoleeza Rice must have given them pause; Hillary Clinton may just give them ideas.
A probably happy-clappy thought for a Friday.
