My second book, The Poisoned Island, was published in 2013. It’s a follow-up to?The English Monster, and tells the story of the return of the ship?Solander?from the island of Tahiti, its hold filled with botanical wonders for the hot houses of Kew Gardens.
But one of these plants is a good deal more than it appears to be. When the crew of the?Solander start turning up dead in and around Wapping, their faces frozen in terrible smiles, Charles Horton and John Harriott are once again called in to investigate. What they discovers will challenge the natural philosophy of Regency London, and bring them face-to-face with the president of the Royal Society and friend of the king, Sir Joseph Banks.
